Let us stop enforcing intra-African borders under the illusion of national sovereignty.

If we analyze the geopolitical pressures on current African nations, our so-called sovereignty is constantly violated. Abuse and exploitation become evident by simply looking at the current relationships between African countries and economic powers such as the USA, France, Russia, China, and others.

Does it look like individual African countries are able to defend their sovereignty or protect their natural resources alone? Clearly, no African country is strong enough to single-handedly ward-off the exploitative intentions and desires of the developed world.

If we want to significantly change the paradigm, we need to collectively decide to create a federal government covering the entire continent. Forming a unified African bloc will restore the balance of power and allow more equitable negotiations. Countries like the USA, Russia and China have shown us how it can be done. These nations became powerful by deciding to unite different colonies, federations, regions, and nations under one flag. African nations and the diaspora can decide to walk a similar path.

The AfriKili cause is not designed to serve the interests of a select few, but all of us. A federal United States of Africa should not be seen as a threat to the pursuit of our individual dreams and aspirations. Instead, a United States of Africa will strengthen our ability to achieve our individual dreams by joining hands with others, and by coming together as a one big African family.

What happens in Lagos, should matter to those in Nairobi. What happens in Dar-Es-Salaam, should matter to those in Antananarivo. What happens in Cape Town should matter to those in Dakar. What happens in Cairo, should matter to those in Kinshasa. Etc, etc, you get the point. This is critical if we want to become one big family and maximize the continent’s potential.

It is a matter of deciding. Not only am I convinced that our generation can collectively decide to pursue this goal, but I am also convinced that we can effectively set the continent on course towards a United States of Africa. Our generation has what it takes to tackle this challenge and accomplish the Pan-African dreams of our forefathers W.E.B. Du Bois, Marcus Garvey, Kwame Nkrumah, Cheikh Anta Diop et al.

Uniting under a federal union might have been an impossible objective for previous generations that had to focus on freedom or independence, but not for our liberated minds.

Our generation can no longer afford to remain in a deep state of slumber regarding African unity. Rather, we must instigate a Pan-African revolution for the wellbeing of the entire African continent and its diaspora.

If we are to be known as the awaken generation, let us all join the fight to create a thriving United States of Africa.

One thing is sure, Africa cannot become a powerful continent without a momentous Pan-African awakening and without forming a unified front.

Let’s get to work!

AfriKili, African intelligence to build a new Africa!
